Borrell Electric Co., Inc. is one of the largest and oldest commercial/industrial contractors in the Tampa Bay area. For more than half a century, Borrell Electric Co. has provided local, state and regional business with quality electrical installation and craftsmanship. Today this multi-million dollar firm designs, markets and installs electrical systems for new and renovated commercial/industrial properties. It also provides high-voltage electrical installations, testing and preventive maintenance work for new and existing facilities.

Borrell Electric Company was founded in 1947 as an electrical service and contracting business. During the sixties, the company was incorporated and operated as Borrell Electric Co., Inc. In 1971, the company purchased the assets of Bigby Electric Co. which had been in business in Tampa since 1926. The corporate name was changed to Borrell-Bigby Electric Co., Inc. and in December 1980, the name was changed back to Borrell Electric Co., Inc. Prior to the seventies, the company was principally involved in electrical maintenance. During the seventies, the company expanded into the areas of new construction and other related fields.

In 2004, the company was purchased by employees, James Smith and Carlos Menendez. Under the direction of our President, James W. Smith, the basic philosophy of the company remains unchanged:

To maintain a strong service organization which will provide competent and reliable service to its customers.
