About Superior Electric of Tampa
The Superior Electric Company of Tampa was not always in Tampa. The company originally started in 1953 in Columbus, GA by Burch Devane, an enterprising young electrician who decided he wanted to start his own company. After several successful year, he was awarded a sizable contract to work for a home builder out of Alabama that was developing the Temple Park housing neihborhood right here in Tampa. As Burch came down to Florida during weekdays to work the project, he began wondering why he was traveling back to Georgia every weekend to see his family. The work was piling up in a good way, he love fishing the glorious waters of Tampa Bay, and he could see that Tampa would need good electricians for the foreseeable future. He and his family decided to move to Tampa and so the company relocated to its present day address on Waters Ave. in 1959.

Superior Electric eventually purchased the house they initially rented and has steadily grown over the past 50 years. They added land around the office to serve as home base for a fleet of 22 trucks, administration, dispatch, and customer service.

The company is still operated by the same family and now in its third generation with three sons and the grandson of Terry. The family atmosphere carries through to the employees and all dealings with customers. We are very proud that many of the contractors we work for are part of a twenty to thirty year relationship with companies that are also on their third generation of family ownership.
